Inventor y fabricante estadounidense. Perfeccionó en 1880 un proceso para fabricar placas secas para fotografía. En 1889 introdujo la película transparente y en 1892 reorganizó su compañía en Rochester como Eastman Kodak Co. La introducción de la primera cámara Kodak (una palabra acuñada que llegó a ser una marca registrada) ayudó a popularizar la fotografía. Hacia 1927, Eastman Kodak era virtualmente un monopolio en la industria fotográfica estadounidense y sigue siendo una de las mayores compañías de EE.UU. en este campo. La escuela de música de la Universidad de Rochester lleva su nombre (Eastman School of Music) en reconocimiento a sus generosas donaciones a la universidad.
